We've decided that so much goes on in and out of the studio here at Made By Harriet that we should start sharing some behind the scenes action with everyone. It might just be a new product roundup, things Harriet has dropped, what puzzle is on the go currently or things that sean Connery breaks. We really hope you like the little insight into our world.
Made By Harriet were out and about in May! Harriet was invited to show her artwork at the Dog Show Brighton, run by the very lovely Joanna Osbourne and Sally Muir. For every weekend in May, Joanna opened up her beautiful home to the public (dogs welcome of course) so that people could admire artwork from several different artists including Holy Smoke, Nicky Nunn, Josse Davis, Felted Fido and Bridget Baker.
We went down to visit on the last weekend (an incredibly, busy, sunny bank holiday weekend) so yes it took us 5 hours to get there. However, there was an additional 45 minutes added because we spent that time searching for Harriet's lost phone at the services. It was in the pocket in her door. 🙄 But, when we got there we had the best time with Joanna and her Husband Orlando (who as well as being a composer making incredible cakes). We had a chance to wander around Brighton, the lanes and the boardwalk. Then I got POOPED ON by a bird. Never seen Harriet laugh so hard.
Harriet was asked by the Dog Show if she could create some more of her amazing hand-painted mugs and tiles and of course, she doesn't do things by half. A month later, Sean Connery painty paw prints everywhere and several trips to the kiln, we've got a lot of new product (minus one that was sacrificed to the studio-gods).
RIP to this mug.
As you can S.C is stood on the painted tile making his mark. He seems to know when Harriet isn't painting Cats and makes his feelings known. Keep your eyes on the website as you'll be able to get your hands on some (non-SC branded) new tiles soon.... see the current collection of animal tiles here

And last, but absolutely in no way least, Harriet was on the TV!!
I got a text from Harriet on Wednesday saying "RU free tomorrow evening, fancy coming with me to Bristol". Followed by, "BBC points north west. Studio".
And this is how she tells me the exciting news. 🙄
It was so cool to see behind the scenes of the studio, meet Amanda Parr and then see Harriet absolute smash it. She was asked on to talk about the new designs she's made for Battersea's apparel, and to raise awareness of the work they do rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals.
